1. In sculpture class I gained experience in using a lot of different tools to achieve different textures and designs. I mostly used the clay rib to do a lot of things especially slipping and scoring. I didn't actually use a whole lot of tools but when I did they were really helpful. Tools make the work look a lot more clean. 2. Through the semester I learned that tools are very helpful in making the sculpture process run smoothly and easily. I have personally learned how specific tools can be used to make a lot of different things. Favorite material-My favorite material that I used this semester was paper mache. I liked working with paper mache a lot because I think that the process is pretty simple and it's just really interesting how the process works. I also like the final product of paper mache and there's a lot you can do with it. I grew the most from My paper mache lion. At first I had barely any experience with paper mache but through the project I learned how to make it work. My piece came out better than I had expected it to. When I was done with the paper mache part and I painted it I chose dark colors at first. I had it black and dark blue. I decided to change some colors and trace with white around some parts. I think it looks pretty cool and I learned about paper mache. A successful technique that I used was sgraffito. I used sgraffito on a mug and my tray set. I think it looks really good and I like the process of underglazing and then doing the sgraffito. I think the two pieces that did sgraffito on were the best.

Process of Pit firing- To do a pit fire we put foil around a piece and put stuff inside that creates different colors.
If I were to do this project again I would put different things in the foil to have more colors. I did not put a lot of stuff in and I think that it turned out a little more bland than I wanted it to. I burned salt, acid, and wood into my piece. Process of paper mache- The process of paper mache involves creating a shape and then covering the shape with layers of newspaper strips covered in a mixture of flour and water.
success of my piece- Overall I think my project was successful despite the difficulties that I had with it. Difficulties- There were times when the paper mache was more difficult to do. Hans Op de BeeckHans Op de beeck is known for his large sculptures. His work is a "Reflection on our complex society and the universal questions of meaning and mortality that resonate within it." He was born in Turnhout in 1969. He lives and works in Brussels and Gooik, Belgium.
His artwork is inspiring to me because it has a lot of emotional expression and it looks really realistic. I worked on this project with two other people and we all pretty much equally shared all of the work. What I did specifically was made the ears.
